A very long section that most walkers will need to split, perhaps at Kincraig if they can organise an evening meal. It begins with good paths close to the railway through open woodland and grassland to Kincraig, then passes Loch Insh and undulates to Uath Lochans (pictured). It goes through Insh Marshes National Nature Reserve and passes Ruthven Barracks en route to Kingussie. Finally it follows cycleway to its terminus in Newtonmore.
